VGA is based in South Goa India. Today Goa being the smallest state in India is the largest producer of Pharmaceuticals and bulk drugs. There are about 70 pharmaceutical units, which are of the finest quality and comparable to the best in the world. Of these, about 50 units export pharmaceutical products worth Rupees 3,000 Crore (Approx. 450 million sterling pounds) annually to various countries. Goan pharmaceutical companies imports and exports are expensive, as they all have to be routed through Mumbai at pre sent, which is not cost effective.
It has been recently announced that Mormugao port will shortly be a designated port for import and export of products manufactured in Goa. Also the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) will set up its zonalcum-assistant drug controller’s office in Goa for facilitating the import and export of products manufactured by Goan pharmaceutical units. These two steps expected to bring about a big boost to the pharmaceutical sector in the state.
Being in the International market for over 50 years, this is a big boost to, import export activity based in Goa. VGA will be in a position to source buyers and sellers particularly from Goa but also rest of India.
